What do programmatic podcast ads cost?

One published figure exists: Libsyn Ads lists programmatic from $12 CPM. Acast’s pre-recorded ads publish a $15 starting CPM. Spotify and Amazon price by auction or quote and publish no CPMs at all. No independent public benchmark for programmatic podcast CPMs verified at our last check, and this page will not invent one.

The published floors, and the silence

The honest state of the data: two published floors, $12 and $15 , both vendor-published starting points, and then silence. Agency blogs quote programmatic ranges with no methodology; those numbers do not appear here. If you need a planning band, use the floors and treat everything above them as targeting cost you control.

Why inserted spots run cheaper

A programmatic impression is an announcer-read or brand-produced spot, dynamically inserted into whatever inventory matches your targeting. No host relationship, no named show guarantee, no endorsement. You are buying audience characteristics at scale, and scale without scarcity prices low. The trade is worked through in host-read vs programmatic.

Who sells it

Spotify Ads (auction, 250.00 published minimum ), Amazon DSP (quoted, managed), Acast self-serve (published $15 floor), and the programmatic tier of Libsyn Ads ($12 floor). Dynamic insertion mechanics, and what they mean for what you actually get, are covered in dynamic vs baked-in.

When cheap is the right first test

Programmatic first makes sense when your question is “does audio reach my audience at all,” you need geo or demographic targeting, or your budget sits under $1,000. It is a false economy when your thesis is host trust: testing announcer spots to decide about host-reads answers the wrong question. Budget-level detail: what $500 buys.
